For the quiet life, head inland and admire the country quilt surrounds of dark ochre dappled with almond and olive groves, where straw-hatted local women wear long black skirts and the only traffic stoppers are the goatherds.
Clubbing in Ibiza
The famous Ibiza club season gets going at the end of June, and this is still the best place to party in Europe. Make sure you bop in the south of the island, where you'll find San Antonio, Platja d'en Bossa, Sant Rafael and Ibiza town. The obliging tourist office even provides a half-hourly dusk-to-dawn disco bus for a little kick-back comfort (call 971 31 7829 for times and routes).
Among the hottest clubs is Pacha (Avenida 8 de Agosto, Ibiza town) with a nightlife pedigree dating back to the sixties and split-level space attracting a smart set. The seriously hip head for El Divino (Botafoch Marina, Ibiza town) where supermodels and their equally beautiful buddies hang out, while El Paradis (Avenida Dr Fleming, San Antonio) may dampen the bod, but never the spirit with its twice-weekly 'water festivals'.
For lovely bubbly nights, several clubs have weekly foam parties, including Amnesia (San Rafael), also known for its hip international DJs, Eden (Avenida Dr Fleming, San Antonio) with its funky Egyptian interior and Privilege (San Rafael), a mega-sized, sprawling nightclub of patios, bars and dance-floors.
Gay clubbers head for Anfora (San Carlos 7, Ibiza town) with its haute-electronic sounds and cave-like cosiness, or one of the disco-bars along Calle d'Enmig and Calle Verge in Ibiza town.
And for those who like their disco music full blast at breakfast, Space (Playa d'en Bossa, San José) doesn't even open until 6am.
